Pie first made an appearance with the ancient Egyptians, and virtually every culture since has had their own version of pie. The first pies were cooked in reeds which were used to hold the filling and were not meant to be eaten. Since then, pie has evolved into an essential form of cooking that wraps our favorite fresh ingredients into a delicious crust.
When we think of pies, we typically think of our favorite desserts, but there is so much more to pie. From our fresh summer quiches to savory meat pies, sweet fruit pies to smooth cream pies, we have breakfast to dinner covered.
